I am after hte singer and title of a song that my 82 year old
grandmother use to sing to my mother. (and possible somewhere to buy
it from)

we only have the lyrics, which go:
Theres a book that my mother gave me
That I read when the long day is through
and the stories of old
with leaves edged with gold
guide me whatever I do

The closest I have been able to come (and it's not close enough) is an
old Mel Tillis song that begins this way:  "Mama's Bible pages trimmed
with gold, Mama's Bible guiding our soul."
