I understand that California is will shortly (late August) change its
requirements for "exempt" employement status (i.e., what is necessary
to be exempt from overtime pay requirements), substantially but not
entirely in accord with the changes in federal ("FLSA") requirements
occuring in a similar time frame. I am looking for
- a concise description of the requirements for all new CA exempt labor statuses
- citations for the underlying new CA regulations or wage orders
- decision-trees or other usage tools to help a CA employer make
classification decisons under the new rules

Correction: The Federal (FLSA) rules are indeed changing, but
California overtime exemption requirements are not changing (they
changed in 2000).

So . . . the task would be to surface explanations of how the existing
state (CA) and new federal rules inter-relate, and a decision-tool or
other usage tools for employers to make decisions about employee
classifications. There are descriptions readily available at a very
broad level, but the need is for information much more detailed and
useful for managers having to make decisions about the classification
of specific jobs/roles. Ideally, such a tool or tools would include
reference to underlying cases or Wage & Hour findings that illuminate
the decision points.
