No, the Asus M6BNE does not have support for S/PDIF surround sound. Though it complies with the AC97 audio codec specification, which supports the S/PDIF interface, the only audio connector on the notebook is a stereo (headphone) out. Full specifications of the notebook are available from Asus here: http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=M6000N%20Series&langs=09 The hardware manual for the M6NE confirms the availability of only the single stereo output on page 20 in a diagram. The manual is available here: http://www.asus.com/support/download/selectftp.aspx?l1_id=3&l2_id=30&l3_id=0&m_id=1&f_name=e1434b_m6n_hw.zip~zaqwedc Details of the Intel AC97 Codec (v2.2) are here, with chapters 5 and 6 relevant to S/PDIF in case you're interested: ftp://download.intel.com/labs/media/audio/download/ac97r22.pdf I hope this has proved useful.
