Hi, There was a trailer for the first new star wars film a few years ago - and I need to know what the background music was. I think there may have been several trailers - the one I mean didn't show much of the film - just captions with brief flashes of action - and very dramatic classical music in the background. I want to know what that music was. thanks Delard. | |

Hi Delard, I'm not posting this as an answer since I don't think it adequately answers your question, but I thought I would provide the information anyway. As far as I can tell, the music in the trailer is nothing more than a highly edited combination (or perhaps even a specially recorded overture) of themes from the original Star Wars and Star Wars: Episode 1. Some of the prominent themes that are present are the Star Wars main theme, Luke Skywalker's theme, the Imperial March, and some of the space battle themes from the original movie. However, as far as I can tell the various themes are never arranged on the soundtracks quite as they are in this trailer. If you are interested in hearing particular themes from the trailer, I can point you to the film soundtracks as an answer; if you want the specific music precisely as it appeared in the trailer, I don't think I can help you with that. Let me know if you want me to provide information on the soundtracks. Thanks, smudgy. |

Hi Delard, Once again, I will not give this as an answer because I cannot guarantee its accuracy. But it may be an avenue for you to pursue. Here are Amazon links to the two Star Wars soundtracks: Star Wars original motion picture soundtrack: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000003G8X/ Star Wars Episode 1 original motion picture soundtrack: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000IQMT/ It may be that since some of the Star Wars themes are so familiar that you are thinking of them as old classical pieces. Or I may be entirely mistaken, and there may be another trailer out there that has classical music in the background--but this would not be typical of the way George Lucas seems to work. Here is a link to the trailer I found as well: http://www.starwars.com/episode-i/video/epitrailer/mov/video_1_0.html I believe this is the very first Star Wars Episode 1 trailer. Good luck, smudgy. |
