Question ID: 383421
I run Outlook Express on Windows XP Home Edition. I enter the correct
password (which works on my server's website)but always get this error
message:
"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was
rejected. Account: 'pop.freeserve.com', Server: 'pop.freeserve.com',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Invalid login/password
pair', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error
Number: 0x800CCC92"
It is not just a case of OE not remembering the password - it's an
error repeated as many times as I insert the password
How do I solve this problem?
Thanks
Geoff

Hello Geoff

You could try these settings for your Freeserve account (they worked
for me when I had a similar problem):

POP3 - pop.freeserve.net
SMTP - smtp.freeserve.net

Let me know how you get on with these...

Hi,

On most big POP3 mailservers i've seen, the 'Account' is usually your
email address (for example: test@freeserve.com), not the name of the
mailserver (in your example: pop.freeserve.com).
