I have tested positive for .02 ethanol in my system. I have had no
alcohol for at least 7 months, I have taken no medications at all for
at least 7 months, I do not use mouthwash at all. How could .02
ethanol be in my system, where would it have come from? Could I have
eaten anything that would make my urine test positive for this, and
what? Could I be using any HBA products that contain this and what
are they? Someone suggested that my eating a lot of carbahydrates and
starchy foods could produce this in my system, how could this happen?

I found this site: http://www.marshfieldlaboratories.org/nida/alcurine.pdf

Basically, it can happen in three instances:
1. There is glucose (you are diabetic).
2. The urine is infected with certain microorganisms, such as yeast or
bacteria (a vaginal or urinary tract infection would cause this).
3. The urine was stored at room temperature for more than one day
without a preservative.

Hope that helps some.

You might have an actively fermenting appendix. Food may be getting
run through this normally inactive relic organ and the fermentation
can essentailly render this nook of your digestive system an alcohol
producing vat.
