I would like to know if there is a CGI script or another way to
achieve the following:

I want a website visitor to fill out a form and press submit. Upon
pressing submit, instead of the script emailing the information
entered I want it to email (as an attachment) a pdf file which I would
create with the fields enetered by the user already filled in. Is this
or something like it at all possible?

Thanks!

There are a number of ways you can do that, the biggest factor is
going to be what programming experience you have. For example, if
you've programmed in perl before, consider using any of the pdf
libraries available on <a
href="http://search.cpan.org/search?query=pdf&mode=all">CPAN</a> (for
example, <a href="http://search.cpan.org/~antro/PDF-111/PDF.pm">PDF.PM</a>).
 Or, if you have experience with PHP, devshed has an <a
href="http://www.devshed.com/c/a/PHP/PDF-Generation-With-PHP/">article</a>
on using it to generate PDFs.

Additionally, you can actually generate PDF files with forms built in
that will submit themselves over the web. Adobe calls it <a
href="http://partners.adobe.com/asn/acrobat/forms.jsp">FDF</a>.

If you don't have any programming experience yourself, I'd recommend
looking for a cheap programmer who is comfortable with perl or php and
asking them if they could tackle the chore. I'm sure you could
negotiate a reasonable price up front for the relatively simple cgi.

Sorry, my first google answers comment! Didn't know how to include
the URLs properly. Well, at least it was a free answer. ;-)
