I am planning a 2 week vacation to Bangkok and am researching what I
can bring back into the USA and what the duty implications will be. I
was in Bangkok a couple of years ago and after 2 years of wishing that
I'd bought more, I am going back just to stock up. Specifically I'd
like to

1) have some clothes made (a few suits and a dozen or so shirts)
2) buy household goods like plates/bowls/silverware (probably in 1 or
2 styles with place settings for 12 - 20 people)
3) pick up some yardage of silk and/or other fabric (maybe 50-75
yards, enough for drapes at my house and to cover a couple of small
chairs)
4) buy about a week's worth of Levi's and Polo shirts
5) buy some small wooden furniture/decorative pieces
6) buy a pearl necklace and several silver bangles
7) buy a couple of "designer" suitcases
8) buy some "designer" handbags
9) buy a dozen or so silk scarves
10) buy a dozen or so batik sarongs
11) buy a dozen or so handmade paper/journals/photo albums
12) buy about twenty misc. small souveniers like chopstick sets or
silk baby pajamas

All of these items will be for personal use or future gifts to friends/relatives.

I am trying to find out
1) if any of these items are not permitted
2) which of these items (if any) are exempt from duty when I return
3) if there is a limit to the quantity of any one thing that I can bring back
4) if I will need a special visa or form (besides the usual
declarations form) for any of these items

I am looking for specific answers on the items above and not general
customs and declarations procedures. I just spent over an hour reading
the US Customs website and publications and wasn't able to really
clarify anything. I vaguely remember on my last trip something on the
Customs website along the lines of... 2 "grey market" pieces of
luggage are allowed per journey, textiles like silk are allowed for
personal use only in limited quantities before you have to do a
commercial invoice, paper goods are never taxed, etc., but I can't
find that info. now and I don't remember what the rules really are. At
any rate, that is the sort of info. I am after.
