Dear Daydreamer16-ga
Since the demise of Napster, one of the leading download sites for
music, pictures, video, software and other files is Kazaa. The
company originated in the Netherlands where the Peer-To-Peer
"Morpheus" network was later licensed to other sites including
Grokster and MusicCity. Kazaa was eventually sold to Sharman
Networks, Ltd. and is operated from an Island in the South Pacific
named Vanuatu, a rather unique location:

Kazaa has had about 2 million Peer-To-Peer users at a time most
recently. You may get information on downloading the software from:
Kazaa is not without it's critics. Obviously the
music/entertainment/software industry is strongly opposed to the
peer-to-peer networks of that type since users routinely download and
share copywrited material. Also, some users complain about "sleeper
software" which you may read about in the following internet article
published 4/4/2002 by ZD Net Australia:

)
For Peer-to-Peer enthusiasts who enjoy simplicity with no
advertisements or "sleeper software", another alternative gaining
popularity is WinMX which has vast numbers of downloadable files and
users. Look here for information WinMX here:

Pixiestix-ga was correct in naming the granddaddy of the Peer-to-Peer
file sharing networks known as Gnutella. Two of the most popular
sites for Gnutella users are Limewire (URL provided by Pixiestix-ga)
and BearShare:

I hope I have been some help to you in your search. Thanks for giving
me the opportunity.
