What operating systems are driving the world's web sites? Got a pie
chart? Google should have great stats on such things. Are any of
those stats public?

Okay, okay, I'll make my own pie chart. :-) But some raw data would
be cool. I thought this might be readily available. Maybe some
network security organization or Akamai or Google or someone with web
bots would have this posted.

Aha! I found something: http://uptime.netcraft.com/ - these guys seem
to be in this business. They are doing clever data mining to get
accurate data on operating systems, which is probably more accurate
than I need, and may also be what they sell for money. This is the
closest I can find, right off:

http://news.netcraft.com/archives/2004/07/01/july_2004_web_server_survey.html

That shows web server stats: IIS vs Apache vs Netscape, etc. That's
nice, but I want operating systems. Aha! Here's my pie chart!

But that's from 2001. Apparently that's the last time they posted the
OS stats. I wonder why. Maybe this is a political hotbed. I'm
reading battles over IIS versus Apache, etc. Oh well.
