I need information on statistics regarding VOIP usage. The information
I require is for VOIP deployed in the following two setups.
1) A caller places a call with a standard telephone, which is
connected to the PSTN. At the PSTN the call is digitized and switched
to an IP network (either the Internet or a VPN). The digitized voice
is carried over the IP network to a remote decoder, which is in closer
proximity to the destination telephone. At the decoder the digitized
voice is converted back to analog voice and switched back to the PSTN,
which connects the call to the destination number. Companies, which
sell such technologies, include ITXC and Net2Phone. I need current
statistics as to the amount of minutes, which are being transferred in
such a setup. I need a breakdown for domestic calling and
International calling. Note: The minutes should not be for general
VOIP minutes, rather only for minutes using the above-described setup.
2) Vonage currently sells a VOIP service, whereas a subscriber
purchases a special Phone Adapter, which can connect to a standard
analog telephone. The Phone Adapter connects to a network connection,
such as, a LAN, DSL and Cable. The subscriber is assigned a special
telephone line, and can place calls with the standard telephone,
substantially in the same way as if using a telephone connected to the
PSTN. Vonage is one of the larger providers. Another such provider is
?Talkn? I need statistics as to how many lines are currently deployed
using this ?Phone Adapter? technology. The statistics should be for
the US market only. |
