this is becomming rather difficult. each of these companies - BMS, Pharmacia, and Novartis, have a flagship pharmaceuticals subsidiary that a great deal of information is available about. but presumably the other subsidiaries do research as well I found a list of BMS's subsidiaries from their SEC filings ( http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/14272/000001427201500006/exhibit21.htm ), and it is overwhelming unfortunately, a company does not seem to report how they divide up their employees in a SEC report i've fired off emails to each of those companies, but the chance of getting a response is pretty slim... i'm still looking for another source of data... |

From this morning's New York Times: "Pfizer Said to Buy Large Drug Rival in $60 Billion Deal" "The drug giant Pfizer has agreed to acquire the Pharmacia Corporation for $60 billion in stock, making it by far the most dominant drug maker in the world, according to executives close to the deal." The Wall Street Journal also carried the story, reporting that this merger will put pressure on other of the pharmaceutical giants, such as Merck and Bristol-Myers Squibb to consider combinations.
