Observation in passing:  it seems to me that by far the greatest
proportion of requests for translation here in GA involves Latin, both
to and from.  I think that is very interesting.  Does anyone have a
theory that explains this phenomenon?

Many of our customers wants Latin mottos for their club, organization,
team, etc.

Why Latin? 

A couple of reasons spring to mind...

Latin has a venerable quality that imparts a certain amount of
"class."  Second, Latin is a bit arcane, so it makes the motto
semi-secret. Club members will know the motto's exact meaning while
outsiders might not.

I like your theory, and it would explain a lot of requests for
translation to Latin (though I have a sense that there are other whole
categories of requests, such as that suggested by the present one). 
Do you think that the many requests for translation *from* Latin are
just the reverse--somebody wants to break through someone else's
little barrier of obscurity?
