Here is the recently-opened sushi restaurant in Helena, Montana:

Wok 'N' Roll Sushi Bar
(406) 443-8772

The restaurant might have a slightly different name ("Wok and Roll" or
"Wok-N-Roll"), but the phone number is definitely correct. When I
called (on early Sunday afternoon), there was an answering machine for
the restaurant, but no indication of the exact name or the address.

Perhaps because the restaurant is new, I couldn't find an address
online either.

If you'd like me to call and get the address and/or the exact name,
please let me know. But I assume it will be just as easy for you.

Incidentally, two articles from the Helena Independent Record mention
this restaurant:

"New restaurants tease town’s taste for adventure" (Jun. 23, 2002)
http://www.helenair.com/rednews/2002/06/23/build/business/1E2.html

"Making memories out of sushi, Ana and murder," by Lori Carey (Oct.
26, 2001)

Helena, MT and Billings, MT are 246 miles apart.

I love sushi, but even *I* won't drive 5 hours for it.

I don't think this will help much, but I did find a Japanese
restaurant closer than Billings but still quite far away.

Jadra's Sushi Bar (406)522-8814
101 E Main St, Bozeman, MT... 80 miles from Helena

Hope this helps, and good luck on your search.

Might I recommend making your own sushi? Perhaps you could even start
a sushi bar youself! Who knows?

You will, however, need makiku (those bamboo "rolling" things) and
seedweed sheets - aka nori. Nowadays, they sell "sushi kits" like
those available at http://makisushiki.com/ or
http://www.asiafoods.com/. The second link also provides the necessary
materials, particularly the seaweed sheets which are hard to come-by
in regular grocery stores, to make the Japanese dish.

FYI, handling fish does require a special hand, and in the beginning,
I would recommend lightly cooking the meat (steamed?).

Hope this helps.

I have to agree with Missy... Having lived in Montana, I can vouch for
the fact that there is no "Montana region," except on a very large
scale, and access to most comforts is extremely limited. (I spent
most of my time in a town 45 miles from the nearest McDonalds, 90
miles from the nearest movie theater, and 12 miles from the nearest
supermarket.) Billings, Whitefish, and Kalispell are all a LONG way
from Helena. There is a selection of Chinese restaurants in and
around Helena, but no such luck with Japanese. Unfortunately, at
least according to Restaurants.com, the options provided in the answer
are probably the closest ones. (Although with no speed limit during
the day and mostly looooong pin-straight roads, you can get around a
little faster than you might expect.)

Here is a restaurant guide for Helena, from Restaurants.com:
http://www.restaurants.com/US/USAlphabet.asp?State=Montana&StateAbbrev=MT&City=Helena

Here's a guide from the same site for Butte, which is about 65 driving
miles from Helena (but appears to have no sushi either):
http://www.restaurants.com/US/USAlphabet.asp?State=Montana&StateAbbrev=MT&City=Butte

And here's for Great Falls, a great town, about 90 driving miles from
Helena... But still no sushi):
http://www.restaurants.com/US/USAlphabet.asp?State=Montana&StateAbbrev=MT&City=Great+Falls

Nothing in Bozeman either (about 100 miles driving,) but here's the
link:

Personally I won't eat Sushi anywhere that is more than an hour from
the ocean! However, for those really needing sushi, I read a comment
by the Japanese author Haruki Murakami recently: "Hiked around Malta,
the food was greasy and the toilets were dirty. I had to have fresh
sushi sent by DHL from Tokyo once a week or I'd have nothing decent to
eat". I can't guarantee the accuracy of this quote since I got it
second hand. But nevertheless... If they can ship sushi to Malta,
surely they can ship it to Montana! Ittadakimasu!

After going through your comments, I guess the best option for
strawhat-ga is to start-off his/her own "sushi" bar!!!!
