Question ID: 385219
We have an existing print magazine that we mail, but we want to offer
it online. We presently use Quark Express to create the magazine to
be sent to the printer. We want to create an online version of this
magazine to be sold at a discount over the print version. We want the
online version to have interactivity, not just a simple html export,
or PDF conversion.

We are open to creating the interactive format first and then having
that read into a program and converted to a suitable printing format.
We do not have to use Quark format. Any commonly accepted printing
format will suffice.

What we do not want to do is create the same magazine twice. We want
to be able to create ie once and have it be convertalbe to the other
format.

Perhaps an application that converted a Quark Express file to a Flash
magazine format?

Anyway, I think you get the idea. If you need any clarification, please ask.

What kind of interactivity are you looking to have in the electronic version?
Beyond the ability to flip from page to page, what would be required?
Are you looking to have the eletronic version mimic the print version
almost exactly (e.g. do you want it to look like a multi-page magazine
on the screen, complete with multiple stories per page?)

We are relatively open to whatever kidn of intereactivity is availble.
I think an online magazine format would probably work. A sort of
magazine viewer, kind of like what you see with the CompUSA online
version of its print ad. It would need to be bigger though since the
text needs to be readable.

To be quite honest, if the only interactivity you want is being able
to go from page to page, I don't understand why you're not interested
in PDF output.

The more interactivity we can ge the better. Wo do nto simply want a
flat .pdf file. We want the readers experience to be a little more
involved than simply scrolling through a document.
