Question ID: 385331
What information can be extracted from various RUSH-related message
boards, fansites, and references regarding the production of the music video for
their 1982 song, "Subdivisions", from their album, "Signals"?

Specifically, who directed the video and what else has he/she directed since?

Also, who is the actor who played the young misfit student in the video?

I know that the video was filmed in a Toronto suburb (the group is
Canadian), but I'm wondering what additional information can be found
online and offline concerning the production of this video and the
persons involved with it.

Thanks very much for your time and trouble. I'm a first-timer to this
service and am especially excited to see how the librarians of the
greatest library since Alexandria work their mojo.

Cheers,

Jack

While I don't know who directed the video for "Subdivisions", I can
tell you that the video was shot in 1980/81 at L'Amoreaux Collegiate
Institute, a high school in the subdivision of Scarborough in East
Toronto. Alex either lived there or had family there - I served him a
pizza once at the restaurant I worked in the same neighbourhood.

I went to this school the video was done the year after I graduated.
However, the kids in the video, including the "misfit", were all
students of the school in our theatre arts club and several of them
were (and are) friends of mine. None were professional actors and I
think the only one who got paid was the Misfit (I wish I could
remember his name!).

They never got to meet the band.

Hope that helps you, Jack!
