Dear steph53, Depending on the particular context, the Spanish word "igualmente" translates as: - equally - likewise - also, too - the same, in the same way "Igualmente" is often used as a brief version of "Gracias, igualmente", like in "Have a nice day" - "Thank you, the same to you". So I suspect that by ending the e-mail with "igualmente", your friend chose an amusing way to behave as if you had said "Farewell", and he answered "Thank you, same to you".
