Hi, dtnl42--
Do you mean research that points to some real-life incident behind
specific fairy tales and folk tales, or are you talking about analysis
that shows how fairy tales and folk tales can be applied to real life
through their themes and lessons and insights?
If the former, there are numerous well-known accounts of the real
stories behind certain nursery rhymes, but I have never heard of real
incidents behind stories such as the Grimm, Andersen, Perreault, and
other tales.
If the latter, there are certainly such books. One is The Uses of
Enchantment, by Bruno Bettelheim, which explains the themes in several
familiar fairy tales from a Freudian point of view. I've read several
other books on the subject whose titles I don't recall, but which
should not be hard for a GA researcher to find. The meaning of the
question has to be clear first, though.
