Not sure about the reason for being - but the answer, you know, the
answer, to the ultimate question, the question of life, the universe
and everything, is 42.

Unfortunately the earth is scheduled for destruction just minutes
before we learn what the question is.

happy searching though!

I believe you create your own reason for being. You discover what you
were put on this earth to do yourself, it may be just to bring up a
child, or to save mankind - it's different for everyone. Hope you
find yours!

Life is a time in which we have to contribute our work towards to
build a better society and create a more enjoyable environment for all
the living beings.

There is no reason. There is no point to it all. There is no big
cosmic answer out there.

If it makes you feel better you can pretend otherwise - but deep down
you know I'm right.

However, some people know this - they don't pretend otherwise - but
still go on to live full, happy lives - sometimes doing amazing things
to help others etc.

There may not be any reason for being - but that doesn't mean that
being isn't worthwhile.

What is our purpose? Why are we here?. From the Bible. Ecclesiastes
12;13.."The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is
: Fear the true God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole
obligation of man".
and for Sparky4ca. Many people do feel that the earth will someday be
destroyed, and even the Bible has scriptures in that indicate that if
you view them literally,Second Peter 3;7,10. But when you take the
Bible as a whole, and look at ALL the scriptures, it becomes plainer
that the burning of the heavens and the earth is not literal but
implies a cleansing. Some scriptures point to the fact that we are
here for a good while yet. Psalm 37;29.."The righteous themselves will
possess the earth, and they will reside FOREVER upon it". Psalm
104;5.."He has founded the earth upon its established places. It will
NOT be made to totter to time indefinite OR FOREVER". Ecclesiastes
1;4.." A generation is going and a generation is coming, but the earth
is standing even to time indefinite.". Also in the well known "Lord`s
Prayer" at Matthew 6; 9,10, it states.."Let your kingdom come, let
your will take place [ be done] as in heaven, also upon earth". The
earth will be still here AFTER the establishment of God`s coming
kingdom. Many wrongly surmise that the earth will be destroyed AT the
time of the start of this kingdom. If we view the earth as God`s house
and Him as the landlord, and us as the tenants, a sensible landlord
will evict bad tenants and put in good ones. He will not burn down the
house!. And First John 2;17.."Furthermore, the world is passing away
and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains
FOREVER. The badness of the world will pass away, not the world [
earth] itself.

Do a google answers search for the meaning of life. You will find
many people before you have asked the same question, with many
comments sharing their opinion.

The Universe exists for its own purpose, which is essentially to
manifest all possibilities inherent in its existence. As conscious
components of the universe, we exist both as manifestations and as
witnesses of this process.

"Process" may be the wrong word to use in this context, however, since
time is an illusion, an artifact of the inherently limited nature of
our awareness.

To learn as much as you can, enjoy yourself as much as possible, and
report back to home base when you are done.

In hitchhicker's guide to the galaxy they gave the meaning of life as
42. If you turn that upside down you get "2b" or "to be". So the
meaning of life is "to be". But you have asked what it the meaning of
that meaning. again, according to hitchicker's guide to the galaxy,
it's 6 x 9 (which is only equal to 42 if you look at it in base-13).
Thus we turn this upside down and achieve 6 x 9.

Old Doug really knew how to screw with peoples minds.
