I'm looking for vegan, cruelty free (no animal-derived ingredients, no animal testing) permanent hair dye. I've been going to a posh salon for years, but have recently become a staunch vegan and will no longer use the dye there. I'm specifically interested in permanent brown tint for naturally brown hair that's turning grey, as well as blonde highlights for naturally dark blonde hair. Also, I don't care whether you find an actual salon that will apply it, or just the product, which I can just bring to our salon for them to apply. |

Thanks, pinkfreaud. I took a peek, placed a couple of orders, and we'll give 'em a shot. ...We may very well be back here asking the same question soon ; ) |

If you found info in the link I posted to be useful, you might want to ask my good friend and colleague Bobbie7 to post an official answer to this question. Bobbie was the Researcher who gathered the material and posted the answer to which I linked. |

I'm still hoping for an "official answer," in which specific companies/color lines tailored to a cruelty-free lifestyle are listed. The link you provided, while a good start, focused on products without a certain irritant. I'm searching for products with no animal ingredients and which have never been tested on animals. Thank you, though. |

If you find a product whose ingredients you find acceptable, you might want to check out PETA's lists of companies that do and do not test on animals: Companies that do test on animals: http://www.caringconsumer.com/page/CompaniesDo.pdf Companies that don't test on animals: http://www.caringconsumer.com/page/CompaniesDont.pdf |
