My favored hair care for the past year has been Suave for Men Pomade
Extra Hold. It has apparently been discountinued since I cannot find
it anywhere.
Is there anywhere I can still order this product either online or by phone?

Hi mopkin,

I took and interest in your question and the bottom line is it's been
discontinued as you suspected. I called Suave and spoke to a consumer
consultant and she apologized about the product not being available
anymore. She said they get numerous queries frequently - apparently
it was quite popular. But the company has no plans to bring it back.
:(

I also emailed Suave and received this today as a reply:

Hi xxxx,

Thank you for writing!

The product you have contacted us about has been discontinued. We are sorry
that we do not have any remaining stock.

Our company's goal is to provide consumers with a variety of products to meet
their needs and preferences. As you know, marketing is a complex function, and
many business factors are taken into consideration before discontinuing a
product. Before a product becomes available at the retail level, much time and
expense is involved in perfecting the formulation, consumers focus testing, and
marketing support. It truly saddens us when we must discontinue a product.
However, consumer demand is a major factor. When the level of demand is
insufficient to ensure that consumers receive high quality products at an
affordable price, the product may be discontinued.

We apologize that this product is no longer available and hope you will
continue to enjoy our products.

Thanks for your interest!

Clarification of Question by mopkin-ga on 17 Aug 2004 15:56 PDT
I knew it had been discontinued.
I wanted to find out if there was any online or by phone retailer with
some still in stock.
I will leave the question open a little while longer to see if any one
comes up with a store with some in stock.
If after a week there are no leads, I'll give it to tlspiegel.
Thanks for your hard work.

Hi mopkin,

Thank you for your clarification. Prior to calling and emailing the
company - I performed an extensive search on the web. All sites that
appeared to have the product - did not have it in stock. I tried
purchasing it online and inevitably the product was unavailable.

Because you posted: "If after a week there are no leads, I'll give it
to tlspiegel. Thanks for your hard work." I'll continue to watch the
question and if no one has posted a firm lead where it is available,
I'll post in the answer box on August 24th - one week from today.

Best regards,
tlspiegel

Hi mopkin,

As you posted in your clarification on 17 Aug 2004:

I wish I had a better answer for you than No, it's been discontinued
and is not going to be available anymore. According to the
information I received directly from a Customer Consultant at the
Suave company, even though Suave gets frequent questions about Suave
for Men Pomade Extra Hold - they have no plans to bring the product
back. The lady I spoke with was apologetic and did imply the product
had been very popular.

In addition to the phone call I made, I sent an email inquiry to Suave
and received a reply on August 17, 2004. Following is the email
response:

"Hi xxxx,

Yes and they have none in stock. If you try to add one to your
shopping cart, it will tell you.

Peapod does not deliver to my area (Miami, FL).
As for if they have any in stock, I don't know since I cannot browse
their site without a login, and when I try to register, it rejects my
zip code.

I just bought a product from Helen Curtis called " Control(d)
Substance molding putty(lime green box). It has a fragrance to it,
but it's ingredients match the Suave Pomade almost exactly. Give it a
try as I was a big fan of the Suave Pomade also, and was sorry to see
it go.

I feel your pain guys... Suave for Men Pomade was the only thing I
used, then I noticed it started to vanish from store shelves. I did
travel to a chain store, 99 cent stuff and they usually carry
discountinued items... I found 2 packages of it. I stocked up but now
ran out.. I feel how you feel... I have bout over $50 in hair care
products, trying to match the suave pomade and nothing... good luck
with your search all...
