There are different transaction costs in different countries (CFDs
appear to be exempt from U.K. stamp duty, for example). Tax treatment
is different. And, I suspect that margin treatments are different.
Do you wish the analysis to be done for a particular country? Or
generic risk issues with these leveraged investments (no matter where
in the world)?

It's not very likely that you're going to get comments on dealing with
CMC Group, or the real "dirt".
Rather, a researcher can highlight transaction costs; limitations
(such as inability to vote shares and margin requirements); tax
issues; and risks of derivatives. This doesn't seem to be what you're
really seeking.
Other broker-specific risks (limitations on trading; unauthorized
trades; exhorbitant fees) are much more difficult to assess.
