Dear wbathman,
I can provide you with an online database of members of the American
Institute of Architects. All you have to do is enter the zip code of
your interest and you will obtain a list of architect firms and
architects in that area.
For example:
You will get 32 listings by entering the zip code 04107 and selecting
within a distance of 15 miles.
You will get 67 listings by entering the zip code 04107 and selecting
a distance of 50 miles.
Each listing includes the name, address and phone number.

Hi Bobby,
I want to specifically identify a licensed architect in Portland
maine, with offices in Portland and Falmouth whose initials are JLI.
A listing of firms will not do this for me. A listing of every
individual licensed in Maine as an Architect would help me. Is this
available??

I failed to mention that an American Institute of Architect (AIA)
member architect is registered in the state in which he or she is
practicing.
AIA member architects are graduates of a professional school of
architecture and are licensed.

I checked that site and it still lists primarily firms. is there any
way to actually access a list of the licensed architects in Maine so i
can identify hopefully, someone whose initials JLI? I tried to do it
from the licensing board in maine but this wasn't available.

Would another reseacher be able to find a posted listing of all
licensed architects in Portland Maine (by name) or does this just not
exist outside the office of the regulating bureau in Maine? thanks

Hi!
I did additional research and located a licensee search for the State of Maine.
The Licensee Search allows you to search for a licensee within a
specific Agency or across the entire database. To request a search for
a particular agency, select the agency name from the drop-down list.
There is an Architect, Landscape and Interior Design category on this list.
Either Last Name, Social Security Number, or License Number must be
entered to perform an individual lookup.

since I only have the initials, i cannot use this resource. So, if
there is nbo way to just get a complete listing of all licensed
architects in Portland, maine, then i will have to cancel this search
request. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THIS WOULD BE AVAILABLE, BUT PERHAPS NOT.

A search of the licensing database in Maine for licensed architects
reveals that there are only 8 architects in the state whose last name
begins with the letter "i". None of these have the initials JLI,
however. The architect whose name comes closest is:
JOSEPH J. ISTVAN
who is a NY architect licensed to practice in Maine.
If you can provide a bit more context for your question -- how and
where you came across the initials, for instance -- it would be a help
in narrowing our search.

thanks for help. I may have initials wrong. i tried to get that site
to give me a complete name listing by using 1% but it said no
response. is there a trick to it? Do i just enter 1% in the last
name box?

It looks to me as if you entered 1% (that is, the number 1, followed
by the percent sign).
Instead, try entering i% (the letter i -- since that's the last name
you're interested in).
