I want to know what the normal sale price is for an average small
pharmacy in Mumbai, India as well as where such pharmacies are
normally listed for sale for at least 3 websites where such pharmacies
are listed (I would like to get website names and contact info such as
company names, address, phone, fax and exmail etc)

Hello johnterryjr-ga!

This information is hard to find on the web since pharmacists from
Mumbai rarely have a web-presence. The practical approach to solve
this question, according to me, would be to talk to a list of
pharmacies and get their contact details. Another point which I want
to mention from my personal experience is that pharmacy is a
profitable business in Mumbai, and I feel that there would not be many
pharmacies that would be interested in selling their business,
however, there, at the same time, are a number of less-known
pharmacies which might be interested in your offer.

As a clarification to your question, I request you to provide me some
details such as:

1) Number of years the pharmacy is in business

2) Quantum of stock/Size of pharmacy(which would ultimately boil down to price)

3) Would pharmacies with liabilies qualify for your query?

I shall, in the meanwhile, talk to some pharmacists here in Mumbai and
get some idea about the average sale price.

Thanks,
muhammad-ga

well, i think 15-25 squaremeters is enough. Basically, all i am
looking for is the pharmacy license - i don't really care about the
stock etc. I can get the pharmacy license myself but with everything
included it would probably take me 3 months or so. But, if there is no
real trading going on with pharmacies then maybe it is better i simply
get a pharmacy license myself and just spend whatever time needed to
get one.

Hello!

Since you are more interested in getting a pharmacy license, I refined
my search mostly to that. Moreover, getting the average sale price of
the pharmacy, according to the people I spoke with, purely depends
about the reputation of the pharmacy (location, years in business,
stock, referral doctors).

I spoke to them about the procedure for getting pharmacy license and
here is what the person there informed me:
?Getting a pharmacy license is pretty simple, you don?t need to hire a
consultant or lawyer if you are doing this on a small scale. You have
to visit the Maharashtra FDA and apply for the license with some
documents like Pharmacy certificate of the person (usually a bachelors
degree in pharmacy recognized by UGC (University Grants Commission)
India), there is some nominal fees of about 500 Indian Rupees.
Thereafter FDA shall conduct some verification viz. visiting the
place, checking the credentials of the person. This procedure can take
about a month or so.?

It was not practically feasible to get an average selling price for
pharmacies since people whom I called resisted answering about that. I
however talked to a few people about this and according to their
estimates it should range from 500000 INR (about 10,794 USD) to
2000000. As I mentioned in my Question Clarification earlier, larger
profitable pharmacies would normally be not interested in selling
their business. There may, however, be cases where the sale price may
be cheaper for ?sick-units? or pharmacies closing their shop. That
can, however, be ascertained only after doing an exhaustive research
on that, which would include doing a survey of small pharmacies and
then, communicate with each individually and eventually negotiating
the business offer.
