I would like for options for changing the appearance of a
recently-installed PVC membrane roor -~200 sq ft low-slope roof on a
kitchen
addition. The roofer chose PVC without consulting us and we
dislike the color and texture.

I?d like an answer that provides options for making the PVC
roof better match the color (and, if possible) texture of the asphalt
shingles on main house (without simply putting on a different roof ?
looking for a compromise solution). I?d also like to know for each
option:
- Rough cost
- Estimated Durability - e.g., if I paint it, will the paint flake off
in a year or two
- Impact on Roof Performance - I don't want to wreck the protection
the existing roof provides just to change appearance

I've found very little on the internet, except that PVC appears to be
a difficult surface to get other materials to adhere to. The
following products appear to hold some potential, but I don?t know
about cost, installation, etc.

http://www.versico.com/documents/reslib/Versigard%20Acrylic%20Coating.pdf

http://www.carlisle-syntec.com/booklets/booklet78.pdf (see page 6,
though they only specify white & gray)

GAF Topcoat - http://www.gaf.com/Content/Documents/10295.pdf

Also welcome but not required are opinions (from contractors or others
with similar experience) on whether it?s fair for us to expect a some
sort of discount or monetoary adjustment in this situation. (The
project SOW for the whole addition only specified ?membrane roof?, and
the contractor, while acknowledgine our concerns, seems to think
"well, you have *a* roof, so you should pay for it".)

I've never used it in a roof, but it does work well on pvc. It's
$3.50 a can at Wal-Mart.

Thanks, seems worth throwing in the mix. Would certainly be easy to apply...
