Dear jahost-ga

Good News! In spite of the devastating damage caused by Hurricane
Charley, Sanibel Harbour Resort is indeed still standing, and
apparently very well!

This press release dated August 15, 2004 7:03 PM says that although
hundreds of rooms are very intact and available at the Resort relief
workers are not being allowed to stay there until the electricity is
restored. Quoting said D.T. Minich, executive director of the Lee
County Visitor & Convention Bureau:

?We?ve got about 800 rooms we could use at the Hyatt Regency and the
Sanibel Harbour Resort, but we can?t house anyone there because they
don?t have electricity,? Minich said. ?We are calling around to try to
find rooms, but so many places don?t have power or phones that we
don?t know what is available.?

It's difficult to find out anything this early. The latest report
simply says to stay away and that the east end and Coastal Gulf side
of the island took the worst hit:

PRELIMINARY RESULTS FROM AERIAL FLY-OVER WITH SANIBEL POLICE CHIEF
TOMLINSON AND SANIBEL FIRE CHIEF DICKERSON

There is a hotline set up but I don't know how much you'll find out
soon so after the storm: (800) 933-6093
