I know ephedra is now illegal, but I'm still looking for a powerful weight loss suppliment. I'm 22, male, great health, jog 2 miles daily - do resistance training, but I'm having a hard time loosing that 20 extra pounds because I eat alot. I've tried other pills but they don't work and advise me to eat less, So I'm looking for a weight loss pill to burn off extra calories I take in. I want the name of the product and where I can order/find it, along with any information you can provide for it. |

Good luck, man. Everyone has a miracle pill to sell. Your health sounds excellent, and you are to be commended for your excercise ethic. fwiw, maybe one aspect to consider is *what* you eat versus how much you eat. If you can get yourself physically full, it's easy to stop eating. You just have to find the right foods that you enjoy. Sprouted grain bread is great stuff: http://www.mybloodsugar.net/foodforlife.htm It is extremely filling. A piece of bread is a light meal. and this: http://www.tasteyoulove.com/products.asp?section=products/spray is great on that bread or steamed vegetables. and I love this peanut butter: http://www.low-carbbakery.com/smnacrpebu16.html The low-carb fad, imo, is backed by the meat and restaurant industries. I am not militant about it, but I am a vegetarian. It's hard to be a fat vegetarian - not impossible, but hard. I am no expert, but if you spent just one week eating that bread, toasted with peanut butter or the spray, and lots of brown rice, steamed vegetables, and beans (there are many potential "beans and rice" meals), and minimized the meat and cheese, with that exercise you are bound to see some result. Also, feta cheese is a great diet food for cooking, as it is very flavorful - try omelets, salads, and quesadillas. Once again, good luck. |

Forget the pills, they're no good for you. It's all in the mind. You've just got to watch what you eat. If you can discipline yourself to do the exercise stuff then you can discipline yourself to do anything. Me? I am VERY careful! I only eat MODESTLY and all the right stuff at mealtimes: absolutely NO huge helpings nor LOTS of courses. Of course, I often feel hungry many times during every day but that's my cue to dive into my bowl of fruit. I DEVOUR tons of fresh fruit and I love it. Here's what to do ... Get some grapes and call them 'pills'. You can even store them in pill boxes, if that helps. Then every time you get hungry, you pop a pill. Easy! Now, do it! |

More Exercise
From: ulu-ga on 15 Aug 2004 05:34 PDT |
You don't mention what else you do, but you might want to consider adding more exercise. Also, increasing the intensity might help. Check to see where you are in your target heart range. Have you done circuit training with your weights? Might want to work up to an hour or two bike ride. Throw in a stair climber. Jump rope. Swim. The more you do, the more you burn. It all adds up (or comes off). Just pick something that works for you. How can you go to an all-you-can-eat buffet if you have done all-you-can-exercise? Remember, a fast way to gain weight (fat) is to injure yourself; so add it gradually. |

Thanks guys - but I work and school full time, so I can't do all that. Eating healthy or less or MORE excercises? Or.. eating sugar filled fruits and pretend they are pills...felt like he was addressing a child and not me. You always patronize everybody or just overweight kids? "Then every time you get hungry, you pop a pill. Easy! Now, do it!" ...thaaaanks.... Everybody else, great suggestions :) |

Do you answer medical, financial, or legal questions? http://answers.google.com/answers/faq.html#medical We will provide background information and links to other sources for questions of a professional nature, but Google Answers is not a substitute for professional advice and counsel. If you have a question of this nature, we strongly recommend you consult a professional. I think people are reluctant to suggest a pill because the weight loss market is fraught with fraud, psuedo science, and dangerous pills. The latest pill often has little history so it hard to judge the long term side-effects. Ephedra http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/ephedra/factsheet.html The study found limited evidence of an effect of ephedra on short-term weight loss, and minimal evidence of an effect on performance enhancement in certain physical activities. It also concluded that ephedra is associated with higher risks of mild to moderate side effects such as heart palpitations, psychiatric and upper gastrointestinal effects, and symptoms of autonomic hyperactivity such as tremor and insomnia, especially when it is taken with other stimulants. The study reviewed over 16,000 adverse events reported after ephedra use and found about 20 "sentinel events" including heart attack, stroke, and death that occurred in the absence of other contributing factors. Dietary Supplements: Warnings and Safety Information http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/ds-warn.html SOME OPTIONS Drink Lots of Cold Water Superhydration http://www.classicx.com/html/body_2super.html I proved that chilled water was a significant boon to the fat-loss process. I actually had some of my subjects progress up to two gallons of fluid a day. Interestingly, the individuals in my programs who consistently drank the most cold water tended to lose the most fat. (But...) "Drink at least eight glasses of water a day" - Really? Is there scientific evidence for "8 x 8"? http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2002-08/dms-al080802.php http://ajpregu.physiology.org/cgi/content/abstract/00365.2002v1 Find Hidden Calories http://www.weightwatchers.co.uk/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=16381&sc=3 Add More Muscles You might want to reevaluate you resistance training to see if you are getting the most out of it. Are you giving your body enough challenge and rest? More muscles will burn more calories, just from sitting around. There is wide variety of workout programs. Sometimes a shorter workout is better. Changing exercises every so often can also help build muscles. http://www.mckinley.uiuc.edu/Handouts/weighttrainguideprograms.html Buy a Body Fat Scale The Best Body Fat Scales And How To Make Them More Reliable http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/bodyfatscales.html (Not necessarily recommending the scales, but the tips on reliability are useful.) Buy a Heart Rate Monitor As your fitness and strength increases, you may need to increase the pace/resistance. http://www.bodytrends.com/products/heart_rate/ (Of course, you can use a watch and a few fingers on a pulse.) OTHER LINKS Weight Loss for Life http://www.niddk.nih.gov/health/nutrit/pubs/wtloss/wtloss.htm Drugs should be used as part of an overall program that includes long-term changes in eating and physical activity habits. Prescription Medications for the Treatment of Obesity http://www.niddk.nih.gov/health/nutrit/pubs/presmeds.htm (there can be problems with these medications too) http://www.fda.gov/cder/news/phen/fenphenpr81597.htm As to having grapes as "pills", we sometimes play little "mind games" to help deal with our "inner child". There are lots of tips out there to help, like taking a different route home to avoid fast food joints or brushing your teeth to avoid snaking. Also, a little bit of "healthy" sugar (small fresh fruit snack) might fight off that hunger feeling. Just watch the Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load from some of these snacks. Good luck with lossing the extra weight! |
