Does Blue Cross Blue Shield CareFirst HMO cover a dependent child who
becomes pregnant at 17. Our teenage daughter is now pregnant and we
want to know if blue cross covers us. We are covered by a DC plan and
live in Maryland. If not what alternatives are available?

Hello Robert50-ga

In researching your question, I have found that your group # or ID
would be needed to get this answer. It will not affect your insurance
plan. Would you be willing to give us that informaiton so that we can
research your question further.

The reason for needing this is every employer has a different plan, so
to get you the answer for your situation, I would neet to be able to
identify the employer to the company.

Hello,

I guess all of my group #'s with insurance I have had have been 6
digit numbers that seemed like comapny ID's. However, I've been
advised by a few people in the field that it may be based off your
SS#. Therefore, just to be on the safe side, let's not post that
number here. Unfotunatly though, without that number, I can not get a
specific answer from Blue Cross. Hopefully someone else will be able
to help you.

Why not just ask them -- anonymously if you prefer. Tell them the type
plan you have without revealing who you are. If you're really
concerned, block your number or call from a pay phone.

Nenna, an insurance ID # is usually a person's social security number
with possibly an extra digit or two. I would not suggest asking
someone to post this number in a public forum.
