You have asked three overriding questions regarding anti-corrosion
products in Singapore.:
1. Who are the suppliers of anti-corrosion products in Singapore?
2. Who are the users of anti-corrosion products in Singapore?
3. What is the market distribution of anti-corrosion products in
Singapore?
Some background is appropriate before answering these specific
questions:
Anti-corrosion coatings range from the use of ordinary paint to use of
bituminous products (such as tar) to use of technical two part coating
systems which must cure to be effective to anti-fouling paints used in
marine applications which contain inhibitors against specific threats
(barnacles, rust, sea water invasion).
Quoted from http://www.therustguard.com/anti-cor.htm#INTRODUCTION
" Since paints are devised for protecting metal surfaces, it is
broadly believed that all paints are anti-corrosion paints. But it is
not a correct version. All oil-based paints, for example, are not
anti-corrosion paints. They are merely decorative paints which protect
the metal surface partially against the climatic corrosion but fail to
stand against the drastic corrosion caused by various industrial
chemicals & gases.
Today, there exist in the World over Fifteen Million known chemicals
of Organic & Inorganic origin. Hence it is obvious that there cannot
exist a single, all - purpose, Anti-corrosion paint or Coating
material that can effectively combat the corrosions resulting from
such a wide range of chemicals. Thus, 'Anti-Corrosion Paint' itself is
a loosely defined term that gives no clear promise for an effective
and versatile anti-corrosion effect."
The ecological atmosphere in any given place also affects the need for
anti-corrosion coatings since the presence of acidic air pollution or
the presence of salt water spray or the presence of significant
humidity etc. Fortunately, Singapore has all of the aforementioned
sources of corrosion present in its atmosphere making the use of
anti-corrosion products quite widespread.
The markets for anti-corrosion products is quite wide spread. I have
chosen to break it down into four broad categories for the purpose of
this answer:
Marine Applications
Bunkering (petrochemical industry)
architectural
Miscellaneous
1. Let's look at vendors of anti-corrosion products in Singapore:
The following links are taken from various Google searches using
search terms "anti-corrosion coatings" + Singapore. Also I took some
information (Singapore yellow pages) from the comments posted by
rhansenne-ga.

2. The identity of users of anti-corrosion paints is too extensive to
list in an answer. The customers are ship builders, ship repair
companies, architectural design firms (specify the use of the products
in the building design), mechanical contractors, bunkering yard
maintenance, petrochemical maintenance, mechanical designers (specify
the use of the products in mechanical design), factory maintenance
engineers (specifcy the use of the product in factories), general
painting contractors, etc...
3. There are no published numbers regarding market distribution of
anti-corrosion products in the Singapore market but we can make some
suppositions regarding their use from descriptions of the key
applications for these types of products.
"All types of repairs, general or specialized, can be carried out in
any of the shipyards. In 1998, a total of 4,505 ships aggregating
37.86 million gross tons required such services. As for shipbuilding,
162 vessels with an aggregate of 294,602 gross tons were launched in
the same year."
"Every two to three minutes, a ship arrives at or departs from the
Port of Singapore. Everyday, PSA Corporation handles more than 40,000
containers at its terminals in Singapore. At any one time, some 800
ships and 150,000 containers are in our port.
These are just some of the scenes that depict Singapore as the world's
busiest port in terms of shipping, cargo tonnage and container
throughput. It also ranks as the world's top bunkering port."
It is not a stretch to think that well over 50% of the anti-corrosion
coatings are used in the marine and bunkering activities in Singapore.
Singapore is a huge container port. I would include the use of
anti-corrosion products for new container construction, repair, and
maintenance to be included in the marine segment.
While construction activity fell in Singapore during 2001, it has
traditionally been a strong segment of the Singaporean economy.
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/cna/econsurvey/2001/3quarter_full2.htm
It would not be too much of a stretch to think that architectural
coatings would represent over 25% of the market.
The breakdown of market segments would be estimated as follows:
Marine & Bunkering combined 60%
Architectural anti corrosion 25%
Miscellaneous 15%
