I've found a few references that mark-ups for high-end sound and
navigation equipment can run anywhere from 100% (double the wholesale
price) to triple the price or more. However, there's not a lot of
detail in the information, that is, no breakout of the mark-up for
specific pieces of equipment.

A typical quote sounds like this:

==========

Harman International's infotainment systems make it into only a small
fraction of those vehicles for now. But that number could grow quickly
the next few years: from 325,000 at the end of last fiscal year to 1.5
million three years from now...A luxury car maker that buys a Harman
infotainment system for $1,400 may mark the price up to two or three
times that amount...

==========

Other sources give similar information, without even mentioning
specific products or brand names.

The few quotes I've found are from respectable sources (e.g.
Investor's Business Daily).

Would that be sufficient information for your needs? If not, please
let me know what sorts of additional detail you're looking for, and
I'll do my best.

Thanks.

More detail would be helpful. In particular what are typical markups
for sound equipment and navigation systems which are not high end, and
also for both domestic and foreign, car and truck manufactuers. The
more information and sources the better. Given the variance in markup
stated what are typical and on what if any basis do they vary?
