Question ID: 388899
Hello,

We have a sauce that we need to get manufactured, but as much as I
search I can't find listings.

I have tried:
"contract manufacturer" +"food" new england
"contract food manufacturer"

...and others with no luck.

We currently have Schlotterbeck & Foss in Portland, ME that we have
been using and we need to change to a new one.
The manufacturer should be in MA or NH (USA). This is a wet sauce that
you would use for dipping and as a condiment. Many contract
manufacturers only handle dry stuff (snacks etc), but we know that
these wet food manufacturers exist in this area, because I have a
broker trying to get me to pay him a lot of money to tell me who these
companies are.

Thank you,

Kyle

Would an address of one manufacturer be sufficient?

You did mean MA, right...? (and not ME?)

Anyway, are these the type of companies you're looking for? In
addition to providing their own products for "private label", they
also (apparently) work with food manufacturers to co-pack products
according to the recipe you supply.

If these are what you need, I can probably drum up a few more. Let me know.

Hi pafalafa-ga,

Those are just the kinds of things I am looking for. Ideally, if you
could drum up a few more, even better if they are somewhat bigger than
the first ones, and smaller than CAINs.

Thank you!

Hello again,

Here are some additional names to consider throughout New England,
although mostly in Massachusetts.

As there appear to be very few genuine co-packers in the region, I've
erred on the side of over-inclusion. Even if a contact below can't
directly provide the type of services you need, they may well be able
to put you in touch with someone who can.

Before rating this answer, please let me know if anything below is
unclear, or if you run into any problems (bounced emails, etc).

Best of luck with your ventures.

They *may* be able to help -- not a co-packer, per se, but you might
be able to work out something with them. They may also be familiar
with other local sources that could help. Mostly listed them because
of the Maine address.

search strategy: Used printed directories of co-packers, along with a
general Google search on [ co-packer (MA OR NH OR VT) ]

Hello again,

I saw your comment, below, about syntax. While I'm not sure exactly
what you're asking, I'm happy to elaborate on how my search works.

On the link to the Google search help page, they provide a brief
explanation of the "OR" function:

=====

"OR" Searches

Google supports the logical "OR" operator. To retrieve pages that
include either word A or word B, use an uppercase OR between terms.

For example, to search for a vacation in either London or Paris, just type:

London OR Paris

=====

I strung several "or's" together, in order to search for a number of
northeastern states at once:

MA OR NH OR VT

I also surrounded this list with parentheses, in order to separate it
from the search for co-packers, since this term was one I was looking
for in any search result that turned up. In other words, co-packer
was a "mandatory" search term, whereas the search results only had to
include ONE of the states listed, but not all of them. Is that clear,
or have I simply muddled things more?

Anyway, the final search looks like:

co-packer (MA OR NH OR VT)

I didn't use brackets -- these are merely a convention of mine for
indicating a search, since I can't draw an actual search box.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for asking, and Yes, of course. Just include something like
"For Pafalafa-ga only" in the subject and text of your query, and I'll
do my best to get to it quickly.

Good question!

Google's search help is sort of strewn about. Probably the best page
to have a look at is here:

The description of the OR operator should help, although it also helps
to be familiar with the use of () to clarify a search query.

HOWEVER, you should also be aware that much of the information I
provided for you did not come out of my Google search, but from
off-line sources.

If you have any more search-type questions, just let me know, and I'll
do my best to let you in on some of our secrets.
