I'm working on creating a content-based website, focused on film
reviews, spoilers, and discussion. At this time, I expect revenue to
come from ads and merchandise(both our own, and affiliations - such as
movie posters, DVDs, etc.).
The project began as a labor of love, and we have a team of skilled
writers submitting content for the site. The problem is that it's
taking way too long. This is an ambitious project, and for it to
succeed will require tons of archived content before we can consider
going live. We're now at the point where I feel we need outside
funding, so I can find more writers and pay them to submit content
more frequently.
So, of course, I'll need a business plan. But I have no idea how to
get the info I need. I should be able to provide very specific
information about how much revenue we can expect to earn, how much
we'll get per hit, per click, how much of our own merch we'll sell,
how much overall traffic we'll get, etc. Without that kind of info, I
have no way of persuading anyone to invest in my project.
So that's exactly what I'm asking for here. I need to know, based on
other popular film-related content-based websites out there:
1) What our traffic goals are. Assuming our site draws readers in, how
much daily/monthly traffic should we hope to get? What do I tell
prospective investors our goal is?
2) What kind of revenue we can expect...
a) per ad click
b) per page hit/visit
c) from merchandise affiliations("Buy this movie from Amazon, get
the poster here," etc.)
3) What a reasonable rate would be to pay a writer for about 1000 words.
This would definitely be enough to get me started. I'm sure there will
be requests for clarification, and I'll do my best to field those.
Good luck! |
