My company builds high-speed data recorders (for examples of similar
devices see http://www.vmetro.com/real-time_recorders/real-time_recorders.htm,
http://www.wideband-sys.com/products.htm,
http://www.ics-ltd.com/info/ProductCat.cfm?ID=11).
We play predominately in the aerospace and defense markets where
deterministic (real-time) performance, high bandwidth, and
low-latencies are all important; however we would like to expand into
other verticals. We have noticed that there are other data recorder
companies selling products into other verticals. These data recorders
usually have substantially less bandwidth capability but in some cases
have extensive options for I/O. Companies like this include L3,
General Dynamics (Through their purchase of Veridian), RT Logic,
Apogee Labs, Heim Data Systems and Sypris Data Systems. The
questions:
How many data recorders are sold by companies such as Heim Data
systems, Sypris Data Systems, L3, and General Dynamics (Veridian
division), DRS, Reach Technologies, and Apogee Labs?
What market verticals are these data recorders predominately sold into
and to what degree? (Telemetry, data acquisition, etc). Note I am
not including data recorder companies such as ICS, VMETRO and Wideband
Systems because they sell into the same aerospace/defense market that
we do and I do not need information on that market.
By the way, any interesting info you find out along the way about
potential competitors involving market share, or unique capabilities
would be useful and worth a good tip. |
