I have an SMC 802.11 b EZConnet 11Mbps Access Point. I am trying to set up a home network. I have XP home edition installed on my Dell Desktop which has one eithernet card connected to broadband Internet (this works fine) and another eithernet card connected to the access point. I want to configure my system so that my wireless access point automatically assigns an IP to any PC that connects to it. I cannot seem to get this to work and I'm not sure if I have to install a DHCP server on my desktop. Notes - I have managed to get the wireless network to work using static IPs. I am looking for someone to give me step by step instruction on how to sucessfully configure my home network so that PCs are automatically assigned IP and do not require manual IP configuration and are then able to connect to the Internet through my desktop |
