The Wheel of Fortune has been kind to Jo Stafford. She is retired and
living in California.

"Jo semi-retired in 1966 and left the music business completely in
1975, making only one more public appearance, in 1990, to honor Frank
Sinatra. [Her husband] Paul Weston died in 1996. Jo Stafford currently
lives in California."

NOTE:

In my remark that the Wheel of Fortune had been kind to Jo Stafford, I
did not mean to imply that Ms. Stafford was the singer of the great
song 'Wheel of Fortune'. That was the inimitable Kay Starr, of course.

When I was in hospital in December '02, I had a lovely nurse called
(would you believe?) Jo Stafford.

Unfortunately, she thought I'd gone mad when I started singing 'Shrimp
Boats Are A-Coming, Their Sails are in Sight ...'

That was just before she stabbed me with the hyperdermic syringe.

Ouch!
