I would like to see studies that try and illustrate a relationship between taxes and economic growth. I would like to know how taxes effect growth. Do they hinder growth? If so, at what level. Do they promote growth? If so, How? I am looking for independant studies. I am not interested in studies that have political affiliations. | |

Papabjoe -- Here's an excellent reference to another study -- and an incisive comment by Milton Friedman about "other factors." The Fraser Institute actually makes some assumptions about taxation -- but recognizes that other factors are at work. For example, because the Democratic Republic of the Congo collects no taxes doesn't mean that it's a positive factor in GNP or GNP growth: Google Answers "Per Capital GDP," (Omnivorous-GA, Aug. 3, 2004) http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=376159 Note too that the Tax Foundation report above has data on a state-by-state basis though I don't recall it being long on conclusions.
