Recently I received an email from a friend in Japan. Having opened it,
it has changed some setting on my computer:
1. Now when I send an email from outlook, recipients are asked to
install a Japanese language pack before opening my message?
2. The font used by windows dialogue boxes, in the folder selection
"combo" box has changed from something like "Arial" to something like
small MingLiU?
How can I fix it, please?
I am running Windows XP Professional, all current Windows updates,
installed on an otherwise vanilla or "as received" Sony GRT995MP lap
top.

Another feature of the effect is that in Outlook, when I open a
contact, the details of my contacts are presented "strangely" with
separate windows for family name and given name. Also the address
fields are presented in reverse order, Asian style I guess. Also (I
think) there are new shortcut letters on the field names ie:
Last(G):
First(M):
Zip code (Z):
State (D):
City (Q):
Steet (B):

Click Tools | Options | Mail Format | International Options...

Then make sure the checkbox next to "Use English for message flags"
and "Use English for message headers on replies and forwards" are
checked.

Then at the dropdown listbox named "Preferred encoding for outgoing
messages:" select "Western European (ISO)"
