Hi,

I need to know the following information:

The importance of 'local' domains for the following countries:
Denmark
Sweden
Finland
Spain
France
Germany
Japan
Korea
China
Australia
New Zeeland

What do I mean by importance? How many of the local people actually
use the local domain (e.g. www.domain.fr for france) and which
extension is dominant for the country (for instance in Spain you have
www.domain.es and www.domain.com.es, the same for japan)

Furthermore I'd like to know how and where to register all these
domains? For instance is it possible to have a chinese domain without
having an office in China?

Regards,

Floris

The above url points to a good article explaining usability and
credibility of different type of extensions like .com, .org, .fr, .jp
...

Also, every country has their own rules as to whether you can have a
domain without the company being in that country. The following link
addresses those things:

I agree with the above author that one of the main reasons .co.uk (UK)
and .jp (japan) and .fr (france) extensions are picking up because
"good" domain names in .com, .net and .org for various services are
becoming extinct. People are forced to use domain names which are a
little distant to their actual service. And these "good" domain names
are usually available under their country extension.
