Hello, The short answer is no, there does not appear to be a history of flooding in Bishopville, except right next to the river. Examine the Federal Emergency Management Agency's flood map of northern Worcester County at (http://map1.msc.fema.gov/idms/IntraView.cgi?O_X=6679&O_Y=5110&O_ZM=0.049022&O_SX=800&O_SY=501&O_DPI=400&O_TH=21391403&O_PG=1&WD=14839&HT=10220&JX=783&JY=557&MPT=0&MPS=0&ACT=1&KEY=21095930&ITEM=1&PICK_VIEW_CENTER.x=528&PICK_VIEW_CENTER.y=162&R1=VIN). Bishopville is just northeast of where Highway 367 crosses the Bishopville Prong. You will see that the dangerous "Area A" barely extends past the river itself, and "Area B," where flooding occurs every 100 to 500 years, stops just short of Highway 368. Pan to the northeast of the map to see the map key and descriptions of the areas. The aerial view of Bishopville on the Microsoft Terraserver (http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/image.asp?S=11&T=1&X=1207&Y=10637&Z=18&W=1) shows the distance from the center of Bishopville to the river and its flood plain. Google searches on Bishopville turned up nothing on flooding, and searches on flooring in Maryland turned up nothing on Bishopville. I hope this answer meets your needs.
