Asked to speak at at one yr anniversary memorial mass honoring death of relative and close friend that passed away one year ago. I have been to services where eulogy is given and individuals speak as part of funeral service and this took place last year. But this is one year later. What is appropriate ? What should mood and tone be? Can you provide feedback by tomorrow |

I once attended a memorial service that was held five years after the death of a friend. Everyone was very moved when one of the speakers, challenging the usual somber and serious mood of such ceremonies, told funny stories about things related to our friend's life. It was a blessed relief to be able to feel a few moments of pleasure in honor of a person who loved laughter more than solemnity. |
