I would like specific instructions on how to clean a bathroom, including floors and shower. I'd like instructions for both linoleum and tile floors. Please list specific brands of detergents and products available in the United States. Also list hte best tools/mops to use for such a purpose. I'm not against getting down on my hands and knees to scrub. I'll be a bachelor -- again --- soon and I'm not an idiot, but I do frequently need instructions on simple everyday tasks. |

Day Trader, Take it from mean, having owned a commercial cleaning service in the past, and having just have cleaned the WORST shower and bathtub in my life last week in a rental home. Greased Lightning, and a stiff bristled scrub brush. Greased Lightening is about $4.00 per bottle at Wal Mart. Spray and let soak 4 to five minutes to let the chemicals go to work. Spray it down again, and scrub away. Repeat as necessary. |

Personally, I would not be without Scrubbing Bubbles :) Just spray it on, let it sit for a minute, then wipe down with a sponge. It works for everything in the bathroom, from the bathtub and shower, the toilet, and the sink. (I wouldn't use it on the floor, though.) If you've really neglected the bathroom, get yourself a Scum Buster (a motorized tool for scrubbing). For the floor, vacuum first (make sure your vacuum has a setting for floors), then put a little cleaner (I prefer a generic version of Pine Sol) in a bucket or the sink, along with water. Dip your mop into the mixture, then scrub the floor with it. I prefer a sponge mop with a scrubber head on one side. Kriswrite |

thanks cmiller and kris Some renters make the biggest messes, don't they? The renter doesn't care because he's leaving and the owner doesn't care because it's not her mess. There's no accountability, and the cleaning person gets stuck with the mess, usually for too little money. Thank you again for the tip. |
