Question ID: 391809
I do not know the brand of my Atapi CD-R/RW 24X10 and am having
problems with it. Where can I update the firmware and if I need to
know the Manufacturer and model how can I find this out?? I have
looked in the properties of the device in every place I can think of
(within the software) as the front panel of the drive is no longer
attatched.

Hi!!

Please download Everest Home Edition, this freeware offers accurate
system information and diagnostics capabilities, including online
features, memory benchmarks, hardware monitoring, and low-level full
hardware information.

Download it from here:

Use this soft to know which brand and model is the CD-RW drive
installed in your computer, with this info you will be able to find
the proper drivers.
Search in the Storage/Optical Drives section.

If you cannot find the firmware and/or drivers post a request for an
answer clarification.

Regards.

You will need to know the manufacturer of your device. This can most
easily be obtained by reading the printed label located on the device
inside your computer. Most likely, you'll have to remove your PC
cover in order to physically access the drive. Once located, copy the
manufacturer and model information. Try a google search for the
manufacturer's website. Drivers, including firmware, are normally
located under the SUPPORT > Drivers > Firmware section of a
manufacturer's website.

Good Luck,

Thanks for your help. Sorry I've taken so long to get back on the
site. Unfortunately none of the proposed solutions worked in this
case, however the situation has been solved by a family member having
an external CD-RW USB2 drive kicking around, and so let me have it.

Thanks again
