Hi Keith!

According to an In-Stat/MDR research article dated January 2003, there
are 320 million cable TV subscribers worldwide.

?While most of the global cable TV industry would rather forget 2002,
strong demand for cable television service in Asia increased total
worldwide cable subscribers by 8%, according to In-Stat/MDR. Total
worldwide cable TV subscribers grew from 299 million in late 2001, to
over 320 million at the end of 2002. Two countries in particular,
India and China, accounted for almost 60% of all new subscribers
during that time frame.?

In-Stat/MDR also found that:

"Total worldwide digital cable TV subscribers are projected to pass
the 30 million mark at the beginning of 2003, up from just 12 million
in January 2001."

The worldwide cable TV market will reach 395 million subscribers by 2007

?Although the total number of worldwide cable TV subscribers increased
last year, the rate of growth in 2003 was the slowest in over a
decade. However, even with the recent slow-down in worldwide growth,
total cable TV subscribers are projected to reach 395 million by
2007.?

In-Stat/MDR has also found that:

?The top four countries in terms of total cable TV subscribers remain
China, the United States, India and Germany.

Over the past three years, the majority of worldwide cable TV
subscriber growth has come from Asia, with the countries of China and
India accounting for up to 60% of all annual subscriber additions.

The North American cable TV market actually shrank a little in 2003,
as several hundred thousand former cable subscribers either switched
to satellite services or simply "pulled the plug" on cable. However,
the North American market remains the seat of innovation for digital
cable services. During 2003, digital cable TV subscribers in North
America increased by 20%.?
