Hi, I'm working on a documentary where a set designer talks about being inspired by a scary clamp that his dentist was using on him. Although I don't know what kind of clamp it was, I would like to license a photo of a dental clamp that looks somewhat formidable. I need to find an image and a source for the image to be licensed. Thanks! |

This barbaric device was called a "tooth key". The clamp was applied to the affected tooth and the dentist turned the wooden handle until the tooth was literally unscrewed from it's socket. http://www.medicalantiques.com/medimage/key3.jpg Is this like what you were hoping to find? tutuzdad-ga |

Hello redneckmystic-ga, Here is a current instrument that could easily intimidate: Rubber Dam Clamp http://www.jeservices.ca/rubber%20dam%20clamp%20ivory%20type.gif Searching for antique dental instruments led to assorted forceps in addition to the Tooth Keys tutuzdad-ga suggested. Unplated dental forceps http://www.medicalantiques.com/medimage/dinst.jpg Tooth Keys http://www.newbegin.com/A1733X.JPG My favorite finds among the weird antique instruments are the tonsil guillotine and the glazed pottery leech jar. http://www.medicalantiques.com/medical/Medical_Antiques_Index.htm http://www.medicalantiques.com/medical/Miscellaneous_medical_and_surgical_sets.htm Tonsil guillotine http://www.medicalantiques.com/medimage/epope.jpg Leech jar http://www.medicalantiques.com/DougA/da34.jpg Good luck for your quest. ~ czh ~ |
