I have a friend (an American female) with the name Tomma. What is the
origin and meaning of the name Tomma (i.e., my friend's name)?

It can derive from the Aramaic language: "To'ma" or "Taoma" that means
twin (of an unknown brother/sister).

It can also be a feminine variation of "Thomas."
