Did you intend there to be two rather similar questions posted? If
you meant to ask just one question I suggest you arrange for the other
to be deleted so you don't end up paying twice. Best wishes.

I wasn't intending to ask two questions in one as you suggest but
probably could have framed my question better. I hoped the postal
address might be helpful and reference to the Hamiltons and Sannox
House was again meant to help home in research as I've been told our
cottage and Sannox House was rented for a considerable period in the
early part of the last century by the Coates (of Paisley)from the
Hamiltons who owned much of Arran. Charles Ffforde is current owner
of the big house and son of Lady Jean Fforde daughter of the late
Duchess of Hamiltion (died about 1958).

Dear leli
Thanks, I now see what happened - in trying out system for first time
thought I'd lost transaction so initiated all over again few minutes
later. Most helpful (and could have cost me!) Thanks again.

Hello chunky_chimp,

Alas, the history of your specific property does not appear to be
published online, which is to be expected. If you are serious about
wanting to learn more about the history of your home, however, and
have time to engage in a bit of research here are a few sources which
may be of some assistance.

National Archives of Scotland - Buildings
A free factsheet available for download in Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf)
which provides an introduction to a variety of sources available in
the National Archives for tracing the history of a Scottish building.

I hope this helps you to get started. As a genealogist, I'm fascinated
with the history of old buildings and wish you great luck in your
quest.
