How do you transfer wav files from mini disc to PC harddrive.

The answer depends on which minidisc player you're using and what PC
hardware and software you have. If you describe in detail what
equipment you're working with, I or another Researcher might be able
to help.

Dear mvguy-ga
The minidisc player is made by Sony, and I am using software by Magix
audio cleaning. I connect desktop PC by Packard Bell and minidisc
player via USB Sound Box by Bestsuff UK
In the software I am having difficulties importing files viz a vis opening files.
Hope this is more useful and I apologise for the vagueness of the
original question.
Thank you

I assume you want lossless digital transfer (not analog re-recording).

As of today, there is no way to export the content of your minidisc to
.WAV via USB. You can export it to the PC, but only to Sony's
proprietory format. Magix and Sound Box won't help here.

Sony might release software this autumn that converts to .WAV though.

If you buy additional equipment, there are other ways to do it.
1. The cheapest way would be to get an MD shelf deck with optical out
(available second hand for $100 or less), and a non-expensive
soundcard with optical in (i e Zoltrix Nightingale, $50 or so) for
your PC. Use software like SoundForge or CoolEdit to record the .WAV

2. Buy a NetMD shelf deck ($300 or more). There is third party
software that can extract .Wav via USB. See this description:

What I really want to know is what is the process of transfering mp3
files of a minidisc player onto the hard drive of my PC?
Please advise.
Thank you.
