My ISP provides me with 55MB of Web Space but no Site Stats.

I have now placed two docs there for download from my 'commercial'
site statesecrets.co.uk and I would like to have the sort of stats
that I am familiar with from other ISPs.

The techy support can only suggest a Hit Counter and I suppose that is one option.

Are there any others?

I could probably use the Site Stats from the feeder site but that's
not the question that I am raising.

Any ideas?

All the Best

Bryan

Well, that actually depends on how much control you have over the free
space. Can you look at server logs? What kind of scripting support do
you have (Perl, PHP, etc.)? That will help to figure out your options.

<An alternative option is to place a tracker on your site.

Extreme Tracking offers both a free and a paid tracking service.

http://extreme-dm.com/tracking/?home

A sample of the information supplied is given at
http://extremetracking.com/open;unique?login=nettwiz it includes
details of unique visitors, geographic details, system details,
details of the last 20 visitors, last 20 referrers, last 20 search
engine and more.

The disadvantages are:
The free tracking service is limited to one tracker on one page per site.
Your stats are public. Anyone clicking on the Extreme Tracking logo on
your site will have access to your stats.

The paid service keeps your stats private.
It allows multi-page tracking.
Prices start from $4.50 per month.

<Hope this helps.>

Hi, Belindalevez

Yes ... Great links ...

Many thanks.

I hadn't realised that some providers of webspace don't automatically
provide free web stats.
