I wish to locate an online broker who's site doesn't rely on
javascript, frames, or java. It's been a weekend hobby to find a site
where I could trade stocks using, mozilla, links, lynx, LWP or
whatever's on my mind that day without being confronted by irritating
limitations introduced by slow witted marketing types forcing web
coders to do stupid things.

Is there an online broker out there that isn't browser dependent?

Technically, quick and riley works under mozilla... but the frames are
irritating. I can't open a new window. The javascript is irritating.
I can't use links to view my account balances. The site is poorly
designed.

What I'm really looking for is a broker that has a site that's
designed well.

spottedkangaroo,

What country must the broker be in (or what markets must it trade in)?
For example, there is a browser-independent discount online broker in
the UK.

"...very standardized and are considered good design when used
properly. "

That's exactly my point. They are not used properly on any of the
sites I keep trying to use. Datek is mostly unuseable under
linux/mozilla. Quick&Reily does all their login through javascript
making it impossible to spawn a new copy of your browser without
logging back in.

The real time quote bar at Q&R is unusable under mozilla 1.0. They
site is so frames dependent that you can't bookmark your balances and
positions. It creates a situation where, if I want to frequently
check to see if my latest deposit has cleared, I have to leave a
window open and refresh it... going back to the site requires 4
javascripty-frame-clicks just to get to the info I want.

For clarification, I don't want a javascript free site, but I do want
a useable one. I don't want to be trapped in an IE/winblows hell just
to do online trading.

As a note from an experienced web developer, Javascript and frames are
very standardized and are considered good design when used properly.
Java applets are also quite standard and the application of Java
itself is not considered bad design.

I just wanted to point this out and I would doubt that you actually
find a site that meets your needs. Perhaps a WAP enabled site would
be simple enough for you to use. Had you considered that possibility?
 Sorry.

Hi spottedkangaroo,
This is just a suggestion because I doubt what you want exists:
Get a Palm VII or Ericsson R289LX or something like that.
