Hello! This question involves Microsoft Office/Excel on Windows XP. What key(s) do you press in Excel to move from any cell in a row to the cell in the first column on the next row. For background information, go to the "Tools Menu" and select "Edit" in the "Options" Tab. You will see the choice "Move selection after Enter Direction:" with the options of "up, down, right, or left". I am want to know, what keys do you select so that the the "Move Selection After Enter" is the first cell in the next row? Thanks! |

Hi Digitalpixman, If your looking for an answer to your question, "what keys do you select so that the the "Move Selection After Enter" is the first cell in the next row", I'm afraid there is no way to do this. However, there is an answer for your original question, '"What key(s) do you press in Excel to move from any cell in a row to the cell in the first column on the next row". You see, the two questions are different but they both have the same objective, which is to find a way to move from any cell in a row to the cell in the first column of the next row. Here are the answers: If your using the "Move Selection After Enter" option, make sure the direction is set to "Down" so that if your in column J of row 1 and you press the Enter key, the selected cell will be column J of row 2. To go to the first column (column A) of that row, you simply press the Home key on your keyboard and voila, you're there. You can also totally ignore the "Move Selection After Enter" option. For example, if you're in column J of row 1 just press the Down arrow key so that the selected cell will be column J of row 2. You simply press the Home key on your keyboard to go to the first column of that row -- same result as the solution above. The solutions mentioned above also applies to other Excel versions in other Windows platform. What you CAN do, perhaps... Suppose you always enter data into columns A through D. Select, say, A2 through D10. Begin typing. As you tab through the cells, you'll go left to right. If you enter through the cells, you'll go down then right through the range of selected cells. Another option for you to consider is the FORM. Many people are unaware of it. If you already have data in your worksheet, and you have no completely blank rows or columns separating the data, then you can click anywhere inside your data, hit Data-Form, and use the form for your data entry. ~Dreamboat Currently writing the be-all, end-all book on Microsoft Excel. :) |

Hi digitalpixman - here's another idea - CTRL + LEFT ARROW will take you to the first cell of the row you are in. Next press ENTER or the DOWN ARROW to go to the first cell in the next row. hummer |

Another way is by typing the name of the cell in the Name Box near the upper-left corner of your screen. For example, if you're in cell Z1, you can type A2 in the Name box and press Enter. |
